Rubina Sudharman, a dance prodigy, is trained in Bharatanatyam, Mohiniattan, Kathakali. She has blossomed into a dancer of rare merit and dedication, with precise footwork, clear angashuddam, and nuanced abhinaya.
She also passed her Basic and Senior Exams conducted by the Karnataka Secondary Board of Education. Under the watchful eyes of Vasudha Rao (Bangalore), Rubina performed her Arangetram, highly applauded by the media and the press. Under Vasudha Rao, she has had the privilege of performing several dance dramas and ballets such as Purandara Dasa, Krishna Leela, Sheela Balikae, and many others.
Rubina later joined Late Shri B. R. Tulasiram to perfect her skills and do her Vidwat in Bharatanatyam. She completed her master's and achieved the Title of "Vidushi" in 1996 under B. R Tulasiram. She won a distinction and achieved 4th Rank in Karnataka (INDIA) for this exam. She was initiated into Mohiniyattam by Kalamandalam Jayalaxmi. Rubina has been trained in Kathakali by the great Kathakali vidwan Sri Kalamandalam Pradeep. She has had the privilege of learning from Mohiniyattam exponent Dr. Neena Prasad and is currently learning advanced lessons in Mohiniattam from Smt Pallavi Krishnan, leading Mohiniyattam exponent.
Vedhika Performing Arts is the brainchild of Rubina Sudharman with Students in Singapore and America. She has trained many students of various age groups for the last 16 years in Singapore, India, Sydney, and New Jersey. Students of Rubina have achieved the title of Dance Icon in Singapore. In addition, she has worked as a dance teacher at Global Indian International School Singapore.
She is also a member of the performing group New Jersey Natyasangamam Performing group and actively performs their productions. As identified by the Fine arts groups in Singapore, she has judged the most prestigious dance competitions in Singapore. She has had the privilege to perform in India, Singapore, and the USA for several years.
Rubina is currently a performing artist in the New York/New Jersey area and is a regular participant in Bharatnatyam and Mohiniattam workshops conducted by stalwarts like Priyadarshini Govind, Narendra Kumar Lakshmipathy, Neena Prasad, Ashwathy Sreekanth, Kalamandalam Kshemavathy are to name a few.
In addition to performing and teaching, she has also been writing articles related to dance for the last 16 years. Some of the articles are published on global sites such as Narthaki.com.She is the founder and curator of Vedi festivals, an initiative to promote authentic art forms.
